Highland Cougar softball coach and coordinator of women's athletics Danielle Walker has resigned from her position effective August 10th. Walker is leaving her position to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

In three seasons at the helm of the Cougar softball program, Coach Walker compiled an 82-71 record while earning Arrowhead Coach of the Year in 2022. In her three seasons, the Cougars won the Arrowhead Conference Championship in 2022 and were runner-up in 2021 and 2023. The Cougars qualified for Region 4 post season tournament all 3 years, highlighted by a Region 4 runner-up finish in 2022, the highest finish in program history.

"We hate to lose Danielle but are so happy for her," Highland Athletic Director Pete Norman commented. "Danielle has made such a tremendous positive impact on not only our softball program but the entire athletic program in her time with us. I am very grateful for all her time and efforts in making Highland a better place and wish her the best. We are going to miss her and Kellan. Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar."

A national search for the next head softball coach will begin immediately.
