The Cougars' season has concluded following their elimination in the sectional tournament for the second consecutive year. Ending with a record of 25-27, the Cougars achieved significant victories against Madison, Black Hawk, Carl Sandburg, and Lake County. A standout moment was securing second place in Arrowhead Conference play with an 11-6 record.
Ismael Ortiz boasted an impressive .364 batting average and led the team with 50 RBI.
Kevin Flores had an outstanding season, topping the team in doubles, stolen bases, on-base percentage, and defensively, committing only 3 errors while playing center field in 50 out of 52 games. Sophomore infielders
Jeyson Polanco and
Wesly Smith both maintained batting averages well over .300 and collectively contributed 8 home runs and 76 RBI. Several freshman also made their mark as college baseball players.
Felixander Severino and Luis Quintero combined for almost 60 RBI. On the mound, the Cougars were led by Freshman
Juan Gomez,
Case Rockey, and Sophomores
Jorge Peguero and
David Deschamps, who combined for 183 innings pitched.
Four Cougar baseball players earned spots on the Arrowhead All-Conference team: first baseman
Ismael Ortiz, outfielder
Felixander Severino, and pitchers
Jorge Peguero and
Juan Gomez. The Cougars begin gearing up for next season in August in preparation of a bigger and better 2025!
