Baseball season is right around the corner, and the Cougars are gearing up for their upcoming season, set to kick off on February 23rd in Harriman, Tennessee. The team faces an early challenge, engaging in battles against two NJCAA D1 opponents, Roane State Community College and #6 Walters State Community College.
Throughout March, the Cougars will hit the road for matchups against various teams, including Iowa Central, Spoon River College, Morton College, Prairie State, and Clarke University. The first home game is scheduled for March 22nd against Kankakee Community College.
"We will be put to the test right away but if our confidence can match our talent I believe we can compete with anyone ", said Head Coach Chance Sharp.
This season's lineup boasts the return of key players such as
Jeyson Polanco,
Gustavo Torrealba, Wesly Smith, Fred Diaz, and Adonis Luzon, all of whom maintained a batting average exceeding .300 last season. Notably, the pitching staff has undergone significant changes, with two returning pitchers, Jorge Peguero and
David Deschamps, joined by 17 new arms for the Cougars.
