After a successful first season under new Head Baseball Coach, Chance Sharp, several of the players from the 2022-2023 baseball team are moving on to 4 year colleges. Here is the list:
Felix Polanco (Wayland Baptist University,Texas) - Felix is from the Dominican Republic and has been a constant force both on the mound and at the plate. During the 2023 season, Felix had a batting average over .400 leading the team in home runs and runs batted in. Polanco will be furthering his baseball and academic career at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas
Evan Weavel (Missouri Valley College) - Evan is a sophomore catcher from Rockford and has been a pitchers dream with his work behind the plate for the Cougars. A great leader and the type of person that puts the team before himself, Weavel will be furthering his baseball and academic career at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri.
Jeremy Freeman (Ottawa University) -Â Jeremy is a middle infielder from Chicago has put together a successful season coming off of an injury plagued 2022. Freeman hit .367 with 4 home runs in 2023. Jeremy regularly uses his speed to beat out ground balls and also had 18 stolen bases this season. Jeremy will be furthering his baseball and academic career at Ottawa Universty, in Ottawa, Kansas.
Collin Grimmel (Dakota State University) - Collin is a right handed pitcher from Florida who came over at Christmas break as a transfer. Grimmel has a fastball that reaches 88 miles per hour and was a major piece for the Cougars pitching staff this past season. Collin got his first collegiate save against Rock Valley striking out the side securing the 20th win of the season. Collin will be furthering his baseball and academic career at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota.
Daniel Jose Senon (Talladega College) - David is a left-handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic. For the Cougars in 2023, David threw 40 innings in 19 appearances. Senon is a passionate leader and his voice will be missed in the Cougar dugout as he will be moving on in his athletic and academic career to Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama
Will Fleece (Park University-Gilbert) -  Will is a speedy outfielder from Oklahoma that came to Highland as a transfer student. Fleece is an exceptional defender that showed great range and the ability to make good decisions throwing the baseball. Fleece led the team in stolen bases with 21 and was not thrown out in any attempt all season. Will  will be furthering his baseball and academic career at Park University Gilbert in Gilbert, Arizona
Axel Guerrero (Arizona Christian Unviersity) Axel is a slick fielding middle infielder from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Axel came to Highland as a transfer from El Paso Community College. Guerrero had a batting average over .300 during the regular season and hit .350 in conference play while playing second base, with occasional time at shortstop. Axel will be furthering his academic and baseball career at Arizona Christian University in Glendale, Arizona.
- Â A few Cougar sophomores that are continuing their academic careers are Malik Williams (Southern University, Louisiana) Ryan Schoonhovan (UW-Platteville) and Noah Newstrand (Florida Gulf Coast University,Florida)
