Alabama Trip Kicks off 2026 Spring Highland Golf Schedule

The Highland Community College men's golf team will open its 2026 spring campaign March 2–3 at the Ron Marshall Spring Fling at Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro, Alabama. The Alabama trip has become a key starting point for the Cougars, providing an early-season opportunity to compete in warmer conditions and test themselves against strong competition right out of the gate.

Following the practice round, Head Coach Javier Jazo expressed confidence in how the course sets up for his squad, noting that the layout rewards disciplined ball-striking and smart course management — strengths of this year's team. The trip serves not only as the season opener, but also as a chance to build momentum after a successful fall that saw Highland climb to No. 7 in the NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

After returning from Alabama, the Cougars will travel to Peoria, Illinois for the Cougar Clash on March 18–19 at Weaver Ridge Golf Club, hosted by Illinois Central College. Highland then heads to East Moline for the BHC Spring Invite on April 2–3 at Short Hills Country Club.

One of the marquee events of the spring will be the Deere Hawk Classic, co-hosted by Sauk Valley Community College and Black Hawk College. The two-day event will feature its opening round at Deer Valley Golf Club in Deer Grove, Illinois, before concluding at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois — home of the PGA TOUR's John Deere Classic. The championship-caliber venues will provide a strong test as postseason play approaches.

Highland will host its annual Highland Spring Invite on April 20 at Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford. The event will feature a full field, with teams representing NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, and NJCAA Division II programs, creating one of the most competitive one-day tournaments on the Cougars' schedule.

Championship season begins April 26–28 at PrairieView Golf Course in Byron, Illinois, site of the NJCAA Region IV Tournament. A strong performance there will determine qualification for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

The season concludes May 19–22 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana, where the Cougars will look to compete for the program's ultimate goal — a national championship.

With a challenging schedule, elite venues, and high expectations, Highland enters the spring poised to build on its national ranking and continue its pursuit of excellence.
