Byron, IL - The Highland Community College Men's Golf Team delivered another impressive performance, finishing second overall behind rival Black Hawk College in a tightly contested Arrowhead Conference event.
After two days of play, the Cougars and Braves were tied atop the leaderboard, setting up a high-stakes final round between the region's top programs. With the season series tied 3–3 entering the day, both teams knew what was at stake. In the end, Black Hawk narrowly edged Highland in the decisive matchup, earning the season series victory.
The Cougars turned in consistent rounds of 300-299-305, demonstrating strong depth and determination across the lineup.
Leading the way for Highland was Francisco Roubineau, who captured individual medalist honors. His win marks Highland's first tournament champion since Freeport native and current Coe College (IA) golfer Lane Pierson took home the title at the Highland Spring Invite on April 12, 2024, at The Freeport Club.
Adding to the program's success, seven Cougars were named to the Arrowhead All-Conference Team—a program record. Of the 15 golfers selected across the conference, nearly half represented Highland, underscoring the team's depth and talent. The honorees included Francisco Roubineau, Roman Johnson, Luis Duffy, Parma Walker, AJ Anderson, Jared Dvorak, and Jake Maloret.
The Cougars now await the release of the NJCAA Division II national rankings on October 15th, where they are expected to be among the top teams in the region following another standout fall campaign.
