Hartford, WI - The Highland Community College men's golf team showcased their resilience and competitive edge this week, earning a third-place finish in a field comprised of 15 teams, 13 of which were NCAA Division III programs. Despite being one of the few junior college teams in the event, the Cougars held their own from start to finish.
Highland opened the tournament with a steady 294 to sit tied for third after day one. On day two, scoring conditions proved far more difficult across the board, with the field's average climbing nearly three shots higher. The Cougars posted a 307 in the final round—their highest team score of the year, a testament to the tough conditions—but still managed to separate themselves to secure a solo third-place finish with a 36-hole total of 601 (+25).
Leading the way for Highland was AJ Anderson, who delivered rounds of 70-75 for a two-day total of 145 (+1). His performance not only paced Highland but also earned him an impressive third-place finish out of 86 golfers in the field.
Highland will be back in action at the Skyhawk Fall Invite, hosted by Sauk Valley Community College.
