Coal Valley, IL — The Highland Community College Men's Golf Team made an early-season statement, capturing 1st place at the 2025 Duane Chanay Invitational at Oakwood Country Club. Competing in their second event of the season, the Cougars outlasted a competitive 10-team, 65-player field that featured NJCAA DII National Runner-Up Illinois Central College, perennial powerhouses Black Hawk College and Iowa Central Tritons.
Highland posted a two-round total of 596 (+28) to outpace Black Hawk by twelve shots (608, +40) and Illinois Central by 17 strokes (613, +45). Iowa Central finished fourth at 616 (+48).
The tournament was contested at Oakwood Country Club, a venue with rich history, having hosted the PGA Tour's Quad Cities Open from 1975–1999, an event now known as the John Deere Classic.
Despite losing Brock Brown to injury after a strong start, the Cougars showed depth and resilience. Francisco Roubineau stepped up in round two with a clutch 71 (E) that helped seal the team victory.

The Cougars placed three golfers inside the Top 10, led by freshman AJ Anderson's runner-up finish. Teammates Luis Duffy, Jake Maloret and Francisco Roubineau also cracked the Top 10.
The Cougars will look to carry this momentum into their next tournament at the NJCAA National Preview.
