The Highland Cougars Volleyball Team is setting its sights on a return to the Region IV tournament to conclude its season. With a large departing class of six Sophomores, the Cougars' season has been focused on milestone moments both individually and as a unit.
With a 19-12 (12-8 in Region IV) record thus far, the Cougars are having their best volleyball season since 2009, and would become only the 5th team since 2000 to eclipse 20+ wins, should they win one more match before season's end. "It's a real testament to our unit's high levels of talent this year. I'm extremely excited to continue building consistent success at or above this level in this program!", said Coach Heim.
On October 12th, Sophomore Setter
Brooke Boettner recorded her 1,000th career assist on a set to Freshman Outside Hitter,
Kaidynce Lynch. The team honored Brooke's accomplishment at Dig Pink night against #9 Sauk Valley. "I'm incredibly proud of Brooke for reaching this milestone. She's an incredibly coachable athlete, and such a hard worker - 1,000 assists is difficult for anyone to accomplish, and getting it done in only two seasons is nothing short of incredible!", said Heim.
The Cougars conclude their season with matches against Carl Sandburg, Waubonsee, and Rock Valley prior to finding having their Region IV Tournament seeding decided. "Whenever we land, we're going to be ready. November is almost here and we want to push into the postseason with everything we've got!", said Heim.
