Following his time at Highland, Javier transferred to Texas A&M University–San Antonio in the fall of 2020, where he received an additional year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time at TAMUSA, Javier emerged as a standout leader and player—holding the lowest scoring average as a junior, becoming the first player in program history to record an albatross in competition, and serving as team captain all three years. While at TAMUSA, Javier graduated with his Bachelor’s in Finance and Marketing (2022) and his Master of Business Administration (2023).
Javier returned to Highland in 2023 to pursue his dream job of coaching the Cougars. Since taking the helm, he has guided the program through some of its most successful seasons in recent history. Under his leadership, Highland Men’s Golf captured its fifth Arrowhead Conference Championship, produced the largest recruiting class in school history, qualified a team for the 2025 NJCAA National Championship, and sent an individual to Nationals in 2024. He has also elevated the program’s visibility through the creation and growth of its social media platforms.
In 2025, Javier was recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award by a former Highland golfer Lane Pierson (Highland class of 2024), becoming the youngest recipient in College history to earn that prestigious honor.
Outside of coaching, Javier remains passionate about the game. He continues to compete and recently won the 2024 Freeport City Tournament at Park Hills Golf Course. An avid golf traveler, he is on a personal mission to play golf in all 50 U.S. states, on all 7 continents, and log 1,000 different courses.
Javier resides in Freeport and is deeply committed to giving back to the college and community that helped shape his journey both on and off the course.
