Javier Jazo

Javier Jazo serves as the Head Men’s Golf Coach at Highland Community College, returning to lead the very program where he began his collegiate golf career. A proud alum of Highland, Javier played for the Cougars from 2020–2022. As a sophomore, he qualified as an individual for the NJCAA National Championship, marking one of the early highlights of his playing career.

Following his time at Highland, Javier transferred to Texas A&M University–San Antonio in the fall of 2022, where he received an additional year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his time at TAMUSA, Javier emerged as a standout leader and player—holding the lowest scoring average as a junior, becoming the first player in program history to record an albatross in competition, and serving as team captain all three years.

Javier returned to Highland in 2023 to pursue his dream job of coaching the Cougars. Since taking the helm, he has guided the program through some of its most successful seasons in recent history. Under his leadership, Highland Men’s Golf captured its fifth Arrowhead Conference Championship, produced the largest recruiting class in school history, qualified a team for the 2025 NJCAA National Championship, and sent an individual to Nationals in 2024. He has also elevated the program’s visibility through the creation and growth of its social media platforms.

Outside of coaching, Javier remains passionate about the game. He continues to compete and recently won the 2024 Freeport City Tournament at Park Hills Golf Course. An avid golf traveler, he is on a personal mission to play golf in all 50 U.S. states, on all 7 continents, and log 1,000 different courses.

Javier resides in Freeport, Illinois, and is deeply committed to giving back to the college and community that helped shape his journey both on and off the course.
