Chance Sharp enters his fourth season as the Head Baseball Coach at Highland Community College. Since taking over the program in 2022, Sharp has led a strong turnaround for the Cougars—growing the roster from 11 to over 40 student-athletes, raising the team GPA from 2.6 to 3.3, and earning 80 wins in his first three seasons. Under his leadership, Highland baseball has emphasized player development, academic success, and community involvement. Sharp has implemented individualized training programs focused on fundamentals, strength and conditioning, and nutrition, while also building a team culture rooted in accountability and growth.
Before coming to Freeport, Coach Sharp served as Associate Head Coach and Pitching Coach at Benedictine University Mesa (2019–2022), where the program earned multiple NAIA Top-25 rankings, peaking at No. 11 nationally in 2021. In 2018, he was the Graduate Assistant and Pitching Coach at Carolina University in North Carolina. From 2015–2018, Sharp was an assistant baseball coach at Kofa High School in Arizona.
He also brings extensive summer collegiate coaching experience, including time in the Prospect League, the Palm Springs Collegiate League, and the Independence Baseball League.
As a player, Sharp pitched for both Salem University and New Mexico Highlands University from 2012–2015. At Salem, he logged nearly 150 innings and earned All-Conference honors in 2012.
