The Highland Community College volleyball team continued its opening weekend with matches against Montcalm Community College and Spoon River College.

Highland opened the day with a straight-set victory over Montcalm, using a balanced offensive attack and strong play at the net.

Jocelyn Hall led the Cougars with eight kills, while Cailyn Lane added six and Olivia Klinefelter finished with five. Emily Quine contributed three kills, while Macey Schryver, Izabella Homewood and Finley Banks each added one.

Kallie Yianibas led Highland's setting effort with 10 assists, while Lana Walker added eight. Emily Broshous finished with five assists.

The Cougars also had a strong day serving. Lana Walker recorded two aces, while Emily Broshous, Mia Diffenderfer and Kallie Yianibas each added an ace.

At the net, Macey Schryver recorded three block assists, while Homewood and Jocelyn Hall each added two.

Highland followed its first victory with another straight-set win, defeating Spoon River to finish the day with two victories.

Emily Quine and Cailyn Lane led the Cougars offensively with nine kills apiece. Quine recorded nine kills on 25 attacks and hit .240, while Lane had nine kills on 19 attacks and hit .421. Olivia Klinefelter and Jocelyn Hall each added five kills.

Yianibas led Highland with 12 assists, while Walker added 10. Broshous contributed three assists and led the Cougars with 15 digs. Quine added eight digs, while Diffenderfer finished with seven.

Highland was also effective from the service line. Quine and Yianibas each recorded three aces, while Walker and Schryver added one apiece. Schryver also contributed five block assists
